Temperance has only one thing on her mind: avenging the death of her beloved rooster, Acanthus. But when her pursuit of revenge leads her into a frontier saloon filled with an eccentric cast of strangers—a lonely bartender, an ornery head groom, an eager musician, a hapless stagecoach driver, and a stern schoolteacher—an ordinary afternoon gives way to extraordinary events. As miracles begin to unfold and buried truths come to light, each person is forced to confront their own past, discovering that forgiveness may be more powerful than vengeance.
